Tips on wall painting (Cement/concrete)

The paint result depends on how good we first prepare the surface. A good preparation will make any painting processes easier and faster, allowing you to enjoy an excellent paint finish and high quality paint in the end.

New paint surface
  1. Curing on concrete has to be perfect already (28 days minimum).
  2. Check on the wall's humidity.
  3. Use protimeter - the tool to measure water's acidity level. The level has to stay under 18%.
  4. Check on the wall's alkali level.
  5. The alkali's level has to be pH + 8. If higher, then the formula and the wall have not yet been able to be painted immediately. If the water level is low enough, but the alkali is still on its peak, this proves that other cement reaction is still occurred due to a lack of water concentrates. Therefore always make sure that you wipe off the wall surface with clean water.
  6. Scrub the wall surface with a rough piece of polisher or brush it with clean water. Wipe it off afterwards with a clean cloth.
  7. Clean the wall surface with chloride acid (HCl) 10-15% to neutralize the remaining alkali and to make the wall surface rougher. This will also help establishing a better adhesive power.
  8. If the surface has mildews and algae, clean it thoroughly with 10-15% chlorine.
